When the Moanalua High School marching band plays at football games, students may be accustomed to hearing our school’s fight song, which is actually the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s fight song titled “On, Wisconsin.” This season, the crowd can now sing the song featuring original lyrics written by Music Director Elden Seta this summer.

Seta explained that for decades, it was just the tune of the song that was being played at games. “The lyrics should’ve been made two decades ago,” Seta said. “After a while, I became tired of waiting for someone to create lyrics for our school,” he said. And after a few meetings with his cheer committee, he was finally able to write song lyrics original to Moanalua.

Senior Zerah Caoile plays the tenor saxophone, has participated in marching band since her freshman year, was a part of the cheer committee that helped Seta write the lyrics. “I think everyone loves it,” she said. “Having lyrics to the fight song will give us all more school spirit...as well as knowing that we are the very ones leaving a legacy for future classes here at Moanalua.”
