MeneMac will soon be heading to Seattle, Washington to compete in the STN (Student Television Network) Competition.

This school year, MeneMac has already been recognized for many awards for their impressive films. They have won 2 Student NATAS (National Academy of Television Arts) Emmys for Audio & Sound, and Tutoring & Writing for their film “Tomorrow the World.” They have also won multiple challenges such as the Honorable Mention High School News Feature and High School Sports Feature, and an award for broadcast excellence for their weekly show, “Now Loading News” in the South Pacific/International region. Now, the MeneMac students are working to prepare for their biggest competition of the school year in Seattle.

MeneMac teacher Mark Ikenaga shared his thoughts on his students’ hard work leading up to their upcoming trip.

“MeneMac has been preparing very well through various simulations. MeneMac has also been meeting on the weekends, and they try to mock the competitions up in Seattle,” Ikenaga said.

Using his creativity, Ikenaga has been preparing the students for the competition, giving the Menemac students different prompts and 7 hours to put together their plans, write their scripts, film, and edit their footage.

The MeneMac students will leave for Seattle on March 22, 2019 and the STN competition will be held on March 28-31, 2019.
