The concept of Brunch was invented in 1895 by an English writer named Guy Beringer. To think, a person who missed breakfast but isn’t in time for lunch! The hunger pangs hurt when skipping meals, fortunately in the Harper's weekly mister Guy Beringer solved nutrition problems when writing “Brunch: a plea” and introducing the concept of breakfast combined with lunch. Monumentally introducing brunch in his article Guy Beringer said “ to use a theatrical simile, there is a tendency to regard meals solely as the curtain raisers of the days performance.”
One great place in Oahu to get brunch is Cafe Kaila located at 2919 Kapiolani Blvd, Honolulu, HI 96816. Cafe Kaila was opened by Kaila Castillo in hopes of making and serving her baked goods and recipes. Another great Cafe in Hawaii is Cream Pot, located at 444 Niu St, Honolulu, HI 96815. They’re known for their cute and frilly theme in their cafe also their souffle pancakes with fresh strawberries. Nathan Tran General Manager for Cream pot explains the restaurant “ unique menu options using fresh and high quality ingredients sourced locally and around the world.” This Cafe specializes in breakfast foods making it an ideal destination for brunch.
Lastly a good brunch cafe close to University of Hawaii manoa is The Nook Neighborhood Bistro, located at 1035 University Ave #105, Honolulu, HI 96826. First opened in 2014 and created by Anicea Campanale and Hailey Berkey. Known for a more savory menu consisting of items like jidori chicken and mochi waffles and cauliflower scramble, not only do they serve breakfast food but it is also a vegan and vegetarian friendly restaurant.
