STAFF EDITORIAL
On September 21, 2018, Moanalua High School students and staff came to school looking forward to an exciting homecoming pep rally, only to find out that all electricity at the field, gym, and athletic facilities were out. In a last minute rush to keep the assembly on, Student Activities Coordinator, Mr. Sherwin Pang, rearranged all plans, moving the assembly from the gym to the field. Although this change was on such short notice, all students and teachers cooperated and allowed the pep rally to run smoothly.
The electricity was later found to be a much bigger problem than expected and would not be fixed for a few months, which would affect many of our sports teams including Boys Basketball, Girls Volleyball, Soft Tennis, and Football and our Music Department’s marching band.
Despite these electrical problems, all students, faculty, and the entire community chose to come together and remain strong during this time of adversity. The football team, currently undefeated so far this season, is now adjusting to new practice schedules. The players are determined to not let anything stop them from continuing their flawless season so far. The football coaches are also working with the music department directors so that they can both use the field as much as possible before the sun goes down each day.
These times of hardship can bring out one’s true character and Moanalua High School administration is proud to be part of a school and community that is remaining resilient and cooperative with everything that is currently going on.
